According to HTSport (via sportswitness), Fenerbahce are currently interested in signing Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Turkish club are at the moment looking for a midfielder with good possession and passing abilities, and who better than a World Cup Winner and German icon to take up this role.

Despite being advised to look for a new club, Schweinsteiger seems determined to stay and battle it out for whatever limited game time is on offer at Manchester United.

There are claims that Fenerbahce are currently assessing the situation after being offered the player by representatives. Despite high wage demands and injury concerns, the player could be a troublesome investment for the club, but his experience, skill, and abilities might overpower the cons in this deal.

Fenerbahce and Manchester United share a history of transfers, as the Turkish club has already taken away star players like Luis Nani and Robin Van Persie in the past few seasons.

The middle men are putting in their best efforts to put in a deal forward to Schweinsteiger and Manchester United, but with the German legend making it clear that Old Trafford will be his last destination in Europe, it would require something extraordinary to lure him away.

A legend like Bastian definitely deserves more than what he is currently receiving under Mourinho, but Fenerbahce might not be the ideal goodbye destination when compared to the Premier League and Old Trafford.

However, hunger for game time might change the midfielder’s mind, and Turkey might be his next possible destination in the near future.
