Anthony Martial’s Next Goal Would Cost Man United An Extra £8.5m

Anthony Martial netted his 24th goal for Manchester United during their 2-0 victory over Watford on Saturday, and it looks like his 25th would be an expensive one for United.

According to a report from the Telegraph, his next goal is going to cost them £8.5m, as mentioned in the contract when Manchester United signed him from Monaco.

There were so many add-ons and one of those involves his goals for the club. His contract was apparently leaked to the world recently the extraordinary details of that deal is now an open secret.

Manchester United had to pay Monaco an initial fee of £42.5 million for the French star, but the current Ligue 1 leaders inserted several other clauses into the contract, one of those being that if Martial manages to grab 25 goals for Man United then they have to pay Monaco an extra fee of £8.5 million.

And Martial is now only one goal away from that tally as he netted his 24th against Watford, so considering the financial benefits Monaco will be extremely happy. But the question is could this force Jose Mourinho to bench him once again to bypass the financial loss?

Martial is certainly turning out to be an expensive signing for Manchester United and he could become even more expensive if he carries on with his performance from the Watford game.

Apart from the ‘goal’ clause, if he gets 25 caps for the French national team, Man United will have to pay another £8.5m to Monaco, which is also almost certain to happen.
