Manchester United Will Equal Liverpool’s Total Trophy Tally If They Win The EFL Cup Final

Manchester United are on the verge of creating yet another history, should they beat Southampton at Wembley in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
The Red Devils defeated Marco Silva’s Hull City in the semi-final round to book their place in the final and if they manage to beat the Saints, they will equal the numbers to that of Liverpool‘s in terms of trophies won.
The rivalry between two clubs has always been a fierce one; not just on the field, but the two cities have always looked for a reason to get the better of their counterpart and in such scenario, Manchester United have a great chance to surpass their nemesis.
Liverpool, on their part, had two wonderful opportunities last season as they were the finalist of both EFL cup and Europa League, but the Merseysiders somehow failed to make an impact in both the games.
In their 139 years of glorious history, the Devils of Manchester have won a whopping 43 MAJOR TROPHIES and the breakdown is listed as:

Quite an astonishing figure, but a majority of Liverpool‘s honours have come before the turn of the Premier League, i.e., 1992.
Transcending a rival is always a fair pleasure and Manchester United have been handed a perfect opportunity to do so and one man in particular – Sir Alex Ferguson – will be pleased to see any such happening.
