Romelu Lukaku Rejects New Contract At Everton As Chelsea Lead Race To Sign Striker
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku has put Europe’s top clubs on red alert once again after informing the club he will not sign a new contract. according to Sky Sports.
Just a few days ago It seemed only a matter of time that Lukaku would become the first player in Everton’s history to sign a deal worth more than £100,000 a week, with negotiations going on since last summer.
Everton were ready to pay the 23-year-old a wage of around £130,000 per week, which would have eventually changed their pay structure. But just after the training session on Tuesday afternoon, Lukaku dropped a massive bombshell.
The club hierarchy were shocked, as Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola had recently assured it was ‘99.99 percent’ likely he would not leave. No details have emerged yet but it’s the Toffees will do everything they can to convince him to change his mind.
Some reports suggest his decision to reject any offer to extend the contract is not all about money, it’s all to do with him not wanting to appear disingenuous.

Lukaku has always revealed his ambitions to play in the Champions League and compete for the top prizes, and this stunning twist will surely start a transfer battle for his signature.
Chelsea were desperate to bring back him when Antonio Conte arrived last summer but they never actually made an official bid, with Everton placing a massive £65 million price tag on their star player. Even now they will demand a fee significantly in excess of that figure if Lukaku ultimately leaves.
His former employers at Stamford Bridge will be interested again with Diego Costa’s future unclear.
Manchester United may become a firm option. Raiola took care of the transfers of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba, and Lukaku, contrary to some beliefs, would not be against a reunion with Jose Mourinho.
Juventus and PSG will also try their luck after his latest decision, one that will leave the supporters furious and deflate manager Ronald Koeman.
