Manchester United have not given up on their pursuit of Portuguese star Victor Lindelof for a move this summer.

Jose Mourinho’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea recently but they will have to get back to winning ways in the game against FC Rostov if they are to make some progress in the European cup competition.

The manager is evidently unhappy with the squad at his disposal and has been looking to add some star players to the squad recently.

Out of the many positions that need to be addressed at Manchester United, the backline is a problem Mourinho is determined to solve and this has seen him extensively linked with a move for Benfica star Victor Lindelof for a move at the end of the season.

Also linked with the player in January, Manchester United are now ready to step up their interest in the 22-year old as they have constantly sent scouts to watch him in action for the Portuguese side.

The Red Devils had scouts present during Benfica’s 4-0 victory over Belenenses on Monday night and according to reports from most papers, Mourinho is now ready to make a bid for him to lure him to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese international has a release clause of around £50m on the four and a half year contract that he signed just last month but Manchester United are confident that they can land him in the summer.

In fact, Lindelof’s new contract makes things much easier for the Red Devils as they will not have to deal with his former club Vasteras. Benfica are currently at the top of the domestic league in Portugal and might not be ready to let Lindelof leave but at £50m, they might be tempted to let him go.

Do you think Manchester United can land Lindelof this summer?
