Matteo Darmian’s Old Trafford career seems to be getting over this summer with Juventus lining up a bid for the Italian defender and Manchester United are also reportedly willing to do a transfer business.

The 27-year-old was signed from Torino back in 2015 by previous manager Louis van Gaal and went on to win the FA Cup in his debut season with the Red Devils.

However, this season the scenario have changed, Antonio Valencia has become current boss Jose Mourinho’s preferred choice at right-back this term, with most of Darmian’s appearances restricted at left-back.

The Italian has only 10 Premier League appearances this season and is competing with Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw for his place in the team.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Manchester United are ready to sell Darmian, only if they cash in around £8.6m for a player they paid close to £13m for almost two years ago.

Valencia seems to be a long-term choice at right-back, with Mourinho even praising the Ecuadorian as the league’s best player in that position this season. Darmian’s current contract with United runs until the summer of 2019 with the option of a further year.

Meanwhile, Juventus are looking to strengthen the right-back slot as there are growing concerns that Dani Alves could decide to leave for China at the end of this season.

The Brazilian defender only arrived from Barcelona last summer, yet there are speculations that he could be lured by the riches of China and follow the footsteps of fellow Brazilians Oscar and Hulk to the Chinese league.
