Jose Gimenez Keen On A Summer Move Away From Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez is keen on a move to Old Trafford in the summer, after failing to move into the first team under Diego Simeone this season.
The Red Devils are in desperate search of defenders who will improve the quality of the back line at the club. The likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind have all played in the center back role this season for Manchester United, and Jose Mourinho is now looking to add a player who can walk into the first team next season.
The Portuguese was looking at the likes of Victor Lindelof from SL Benfica along with Jose Gimenez in January, but none of the moves materialised.

However, Mourinho is still determined to add a star name to his back line, and is convinced that Gimenez could be the right man. And according to reports from M.E.N, Gimenez is keen on a switch to the Old Trafford this summer.
The 22-year old Uruguayan was a mainstay under Simeone last season, but the manager has stuck with the likes of Diego Godín and Stefan Savic as the first choice center back partnership at the club this season. This has restricted Gimenez to just 16 appearances all season, and he is now looking for a new club that will offer him greater playing time.
The defender’s contract with Atletico Madrid expires at the end of next season, and he has a release clause of £56m which also runs down with his contract. Though he is just 22, £56m is a highly inflated price, and Mourinho is not expected to meet his valuation.
However, with the player also keen on a move, it is understood that Manchester United might be able to land him at a cut piece price this summer, with Atleti not keen on losing him on a free next summer.
