Manchester United are looking to play hard ball with Real Madrid over David De Gea’s transfer, and are speculated to ask for Toni Kroos in return.

Manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to re-shape his midfield, and Kroos seems a likely option to replace Michael Carrick.

United are determined to take a firm stance with regards to De Gea’s speculated transfer to Real Madrid this time.

The former Atletico man almost returned back home in the summer of 2015, before an office related gaffe led to his transfer breaking down. Real President Florentino Perez is reportedly adamant on signing the Spanish stopper this time though.

The Old Trafford management are looking to take a harder line this time, and will ask for Toni Kroos in return, The Independent reported.

United have already looked at Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic and AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma as possible replacements.

De Gea himself, however, is unsure about the move and same can be said of Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois, who is also rumored to be Real Madrid’s target.

De Gea signed a new contract immediately after the 2015 transfer saga, and that puts the Red Devils in a stronger position.

The club are in no dire need of money, in this situation, they could negotiate a swap deal, one that could have Kroos come to England.

The German is considered as one of the best midfielders of his generation, and he would be a more than worthy replacement for Carrick in the United midfield. Alongside Paul Pogba, Kroos could form one of the deadliest partnerships in England.
