Porto’s 21-year-old striker Andre Silva has emerged as a potential transfer target for Manchester United this summer, as per the reports from Calciomercato.

Known for his sheer pace and attacking strength, Silva has been long tipped as a perfect heir of Cristiano Ronaldo in the national team. He has already bagged 20 goals this season and this has seen him earning a lot of attention from some of the big European clubs.

Manchester United, on their part, are in a dire need of an attacking reinforcement as the future of their star man, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is hanging in the midst of nowhere, and Rooney is widely tipped to leave the premises this summer. Hence, targeting a young talent like Silva does make sense.

But as mentioned before, Manchester United are not the only party in the herd as two of the French giants in PSG and Marseille are also vying to acquire his signature, but the stumbling block in the speculation is the fact that he might cost in excess of £50 million.

He only signed a new contract with the Dragões last summer and Calciomercato has stated that he has the above-mentioned amount (£50m) set as the release clause in his deal.

The Devils have been linked with a number of strikers, and to be specific, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann have been long touted as the potential transfer target, but should United fails to qualify for the Champions League this season, their desire to sign any of the aforementioned names will go down to ashes.
