Barcelona Set To Sign Marco Verratti
Barcelona are reportedly heading the race to sign Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain.
Marco Verratti has for long been rumoured to want an exit from PSG. His agent has been active for some time now, sending out clear signs to top European clubs that the midfielder wants to move.
After the crushing 6-1 defeat to Barcelona in March, his agent said: “He has been in Paris for five years now and he has to make a decision, earn a lot and not win or earn and become a champion.”
This was in reference to PSG’s failure to win a Champions League trophy for quite some time now. Though Ligue 1 champions consistently, they have not fared equally well in the European competition.
“It is not a problem of money. Whoever signs Verratti will pay him a lot of money. One thing is certain: if he leaves PSG, it will be for a top European club,” his agent also told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Verratti has been considered one of the best young midfielders in Europe at present. Any move to prise him away from PSG will cost the club a fortune. But with stalwarts like Xavi himself endorsing the Italian, it might be worth it. With Barcelona struggling to replace Xavi since he left the Catalan side, he might be badly wanted.
The Italian international has been in incredible form for some time now, and the La Liga champions will want to bring him to Camp Nou immediately. He is still 24, which means his best still lies ahead of him.
And now, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggest that Barca are leading the race to sign £80 million-rated midfielder. Barcelona’s swift transfer plan is likely to come as a blow to interested parties like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich.
