Burnley 0-2 Manchester United: Player Ratings
Before the Manchester Derby coming up midweek, which will be a crucial clash for the top 4 spots as the season comes to a close, Mourinho and his men travelled to Burnley earlier today with an aim to close the gap on their city rivals, hoping to get a win over Sean Dyche’s team and managed doing exactly that.
The away side were 2-0 winners in the contest, and here are the player ratings from a routine match which was dominated and controlled by the side expected to do so:
Burnley
Tom Heaton – 8
Although the rating might appear to be high for a keeper conceding two, it was his saves and reffects that kept United from running away with the game.
M. Lowton – 6
On the back foot against Martial and Rooney throughout the night and no quality when given the chance going forward.
M. Keane – 6
Not his strongest performance, didn’t turn up for the game.
B. Mee – 6
Another member of the home side’s defence who was not upto the task today. Helpless against the attacks of United.
S.Ward – 6
Like fellow defenders, had limited chances going forward and continuously had his back up against the wall.
G. Boyd – 5
The midfielder was poor with his delivery, in possession and created no real chances in the attacking third.
J. Barton – 7
Surprisingly, one of the brightest for the home team today. Good passes, nice control and strength in midfield, which eventually wasn’t enough to get any points for his side.
J. Hendrick – 6
A couple of chances going forward, nothing major but.
R. Brady – 6
Was unable to use his left foot to put in good crosses or create defence splitting passes. Set piece dek overuse were poor too.
A. Gray – 7
Put in a great effort by running all around and finding openings but was unable to bring De Gea into action.
A. Barnes – 6
Had nothing to offer today, almost a passenger throughout the match.
Manchester United
David De Gea – 8
One of the easiest days in the office with no real saves to make. Tied on golden glove now on top spot with 13, alongside Courtois.
Ashley Young – 7
Kept up his good run in the team, filled Valencia’s gap perfectly.
Eric Bailly – 9
A majestic display of rock solid defence. Bossed the opposition attack without any mercy whatsoever.
Daley Blind – 7
Seemed out of position a couple times, but did well enough to ensure no slip ups led to the loss of a clean sheet.
Matteo Darmian – 7
Stuck to his task and like Italians usually are, was solid at the back throughout.
Ander Herrera – 8
His usual brilliant display of a perfectly balanced attacking and defensive performance. Popped up with an assist to his name too which led to the first goal.
Paul Pogba – 9
One of his finest performances so far. Brilliant on the ball and strong off it. Slowly justifying his price tag one could say.
Jesse Lingard – 6
Nothing major from the young lad today. Good in possession and kept the game moving at a good speed.
Anthony Martial – 9
Ran his socks off as he got a chance to prove to his manager the talent he possesses and a goal at the end of a blistering counter attack surely helped his cause.
Wayne Rooney – 8
The leader United needed today and with a goal to his name after a long time out, a perfect return for the club legend and skipper taking him to 251 matches.
