Juve Boss Massimiliano Allegri Voted The Best Manager In The World

Massimiliano Allegri has been named the best coach in the world by a panel of 20 football journalists.

Corriere dello Sport conducted the polling, asking 20 journalists to rank the 10 shortlisted managers. A manager was awarded 10 points each time he was voted first, 9 for second and so on.

This way, Allegri accumulated 167 points, with his Italian counterpart Antonio Conte finishing second with 156 points. Another Italian, Carlo Ancelotti, finished with 137 points in third place.

Allegri deserves his place this season, with Juventus on the path to a Serie A title. His team also seem favorites to win the Champions League, beating Barcelona on their way to the semis. The Italian is heavily tipped to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

Interestingly, Wenger is not even the top 10. There are other Premier League managers in the list, however, with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola bagging the fourth and fifth spot respectively.

The panel had journalists from England, Germany and France. Yet, the presence of many Italians seems to have tilted the scales in favour of Italians, and managers who have enjoyed success in the Serie A.
