Luke Shaw’s Season Likely To Be Over

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is likely to miss the rest of the Premier League season as well as England’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland due to injury.
The young left-back seems to have suffered a foot injury in the match against Swansea on Sunday, and is currently awaiting the results of a scan. However, he is already preparing to write off his season, according to The Telegraph.
Shaw was taken off after eight minutes during United’s 1-1 draw with Swansea, despite receiving some initial treatment on the pitch during the match. United’s sources do believe that he could be out for 4 weeks.
Jose Mourinho is already battling a terrible injury crisis in defense. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were already unavailable, and new signing Eric Bailly also came off in the second half of the same Premier League encounter.
Shaw’s situation prompted a ‘must be a serious injury’ swipe from Mourinho, and along with the left-back, Jones and Smalling have also been singled out by the Portuguese manager for apparent ‘attitude issues’ on numerous occasions.

The 21-year-old’s injury is not thought to be too serious, but he might miss action until England’s qualifier against Scotland on June 10. He was called up for the friendly against Germany by Gareth Southgate, despite enjoying very less game time under Mourinho.
Shaw has not impressed Mourinho enough to secure a starting spot in the United squad, and this injury might fracture their relationship even more.
The manager himself spoke of his team’s injury situation ahead of their match against Celta Vigo.
“You are punished for doing well and if we beat Celta we have the final on the Wednesday [May 24] and we play against Crystal Palace on the Sunday [May 21],” the Portuguese stated.
“Before that we play Southampton and, with all respect, we would be playing in disaster consequences.
“Maybe I can bring [academy coach] Nicky Butt and his team to play against Crystal Palace and hopefully Palace doesn’t need a game to stay in the division because it would be very, very bad if they needed the points for us to play with the under-23s. It’s difficult.”
