Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho conducted crunch talks with David De Gea amid rumours linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid, according to reports.

Speculation surrounding David De Gea’s uncertain future in Manchester, and linking him with a big-money move to the Spanish capital has been around for quite a while, and this transfer saga looks already set to dominate the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, as per The Daily Record, there have now been new developments in this story, which could go on to alter the fates of two of the biggest powerhouses on the continent.

The aforementioned report states that United boss Jose Mourinho recently met with David De Gea to speak about his future at the club, and directly asked the Spanish international if he wanted to secure a summer switch to Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old’s representatives replied by stating that the goalkeeper was quite content with life under the Portuguese’s management at Old Trafford, and has absolutely no intention of going out of his way to get push for this transfer.

But they also added that if a glorious opportunity to make a sensational return to Madrid did present itself, and the Red Devils’ hierarchy decided to cash in on De Gea, their client would then have no problem in moving to the Bernabeu outfit either.

Jose Mourinho, who would have preferred his star shot-stopper to completely commit himself to Manchester United, has now decided that he will only be selling the Spaniard if Real submit a gigantic offer for the player – one that would make the former Atletico Madrid man the most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

And if De Gea does end up returning to Spain, the Portuguese tactician will then go all out for the services of Manchester City’s Joe Hart, as the out-of-favour Englishman keenly awaits a return to his homeland.
