Manchester United have noted down Alexandre Lacazette’s name on their list of targets when the summer transfer window opens.

According to French news outlet L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), Lacazette has been noted as a potential target for the Red Devils should their attempts to bring his fellow France international Antoine Griezmann to the Theatre of Dreams fail.

Recent reports have suggested that Griezmann has already agreed to put pen to paper on a contract worth around £280,000-a-week for the Old Trafford outfit. These reports are unlikely to be true though, and Atletico are reportedly searching for a striker in the summer who would be a suitable partner for Griezmann.

In fact, L’Equipe have mentioned that Atletico Madrid are very keen on signing Lacazette himself, as they believe the pair could form a French connection on and off the pitch.

Manchester United are said to have been tracking a number of strikers recently, with the position now appearing to be a priority for Jose Mourinho.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s cruciate ligament injury that he picked up in the Europa League quarter-finals against Anderlecht has ruled him out for the rest of the season, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it is unlikely that United will be offering the 36-year-old a new deal despite his 28 goals this season.

That means Mourinho either has the choice to trust Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to do the job for him next season, or to sign a new striker.

Andrea Belotti and Paulo Dybala are some of the other names being mentioned apart from Griezmann and Lacazette, and United have also been linked with a move for their ex-striker Javier Chicharito Hernandez.

Should Lacazette move to United, it would be a huge blow to their fierce rivals Arsenal, who are well known admirers of the French striker, and have been keen to secure the 26-year-old’s services for a number of transfer windows.
