Manchester United are the clear favourites in the race to sign James Rodriguez, according to trusted Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague.

James Rodriguez has been largely out of favour at Real Madrid, and despite putting in some terrific performances whenever given the chance, he has failed to secure a spot in the starting lineup under the management of Zinedine Zidane.

Having grown extremely frustrated with life in the Spanish capital, the Colombian sensation is currently believed to be on the lookout for a new club, where he will receive guaranteed amount of regular playing time.

The 25-year-old’s availability has put a host of top European clubs on high alert as well, with major powerhouses like Chelsea, Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain, amongst others, being linked with a big-money move for the star midfielder.

However, according to reliable Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, Manchester United have emerged as the clear frontrunners in this exciting transfer pursuit.

The Red Devils have been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements for quite some time, and a player as talented as James – who has a knack for scoring crucial goals as well as assisting them – could single-handedly help Jose Mourinho solve the offensive crisis at the Theatre of Dreams.

Moreover, the fact that Rodriguez and Mourinho share super-agent Jorge Mendes as their representative gives United a further edge in this race for the playmaker’s services.

As per Balague, Los Blancos are ready to part ways with James this summer for a fee of €60m – a valuation the Old Trafford club could easily meet given their humongous financial resources.
