Ashley Young And Fosu-Mensah Ruled Out For The Rest Of The Campaign

Manchester United’s injury woes continue, after Jose Mourinho confirmed on Wednesday that Ashley Young (hamstring) and Timothy Fosu-Mensah (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season.
Young pulled his hamstring just 11 minutes after replacing Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the Europa League first leg semi-final against Celta Vigo last week, and had to be taken off the pitch. The Englishman was accessed by United’s medical staff over the weekend, and the winger will play no further part in United’s campaign.
The 31-year-old, who enters the final 12 months of his contract, has started just eight league games for United this season. There is no denying that Young’s injury is a big blow to Mourinho, who is already without Luke Shaw on the left side of the defence.
Fosu-Mensah, who hurt his shoulder in a 0-0 draw against Manchester City last month, will also miss United’s remaining Premier League games against Tottenham, Southampton, and Crystal Palace, as well as the final of Europa League if United progress.
The injured pair joins Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luke Shaw, and Marcos Rojo in missing the end of the term.
In a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Mourinho confirmed that the players who are on the treatment table will miss the rest of the campaign, but said that the squad has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the second leg Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo.
“Since the last injuries we know that nobody will recover on time, even to play the last match of the season, so the ones out will be out for the season,” Jose revealed. “But the people are ready, fresh, with a big desire to play the game”.
It seems Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Daley Blind will walk straight back into the squad since they were unused substitutes against Arsenal, and Mourinho is likely to play with the same team that started last Thursday.
