ROADBLOCK: James Rodriguez’s Man Utd Move Depends On Wayne Rooney
James Rodriguez will make his major switch to Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window, but only under one condition.
Latest reports have claimed that the Red Devils have already reached a pre-agreement with James Rodriguez and his super-agent Jorge Mendes, who also happens to represent United boss Jose Mourinho.
As per this reported deal, the Colombian, who has remained stuck down the pecking order, and has been highly out of favour under Zinedine Zidane’s management at the Santiago Bernabeu, will move to Manchester this summer. The transfer fee is yet to be decided, but the two European giants are expected to reach an agreement nonetheless.
However, there has now been a new development to this story, which indicates that the 25-year-old will only honour this agreement under one condition: Provided Manchester United part ways with their captain, Wayne Rooney.

Despite having endured a torrid season – most of it on the bench – since Jose Mourinho’s arrival at the Mancunian outfit, the Englishman remains an important figure at the Theatre of Dreams. The 31-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a transfer away from the club, especially to the Chinese Super League, but the veteran forward is adamant to stay put at United.
Wazza recently spoke about his future at the club, and told the media (via Express): “Would I like to stay? I’ve been at this club 13 years but I want to play football. Do I want to do it here? Of course.
“This season I haven’t played as much as I would have liked to. I’ve tried to help the team on and off the pitch. I haven’t thrown my toys out of the pram, but I’m a football player and I want to play football.”
It remains to be seen how the future unfolds for the England captain, but if Jose Mourinho serious about securing the services of James Rodriguez for the upcoming season by meeting his demands, Rooney’s career at Old Trafford may soon be approaching an anticlimactic end.
The Colombian playmaker not only intends to take over Rooney’s position in the United lineup, but he also has his eyes set on the glorious number 10 shirt at the decorated Premier League club.
Will James Rodriguez be Manchester United’s next number 10?
