Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Manchester United: Player Ratings

It was a historic occasion earlier tonight when Tottenham Hotspurs welcomed Manchester United in the Premier League as it marked the last ever game to be played in the iconic White Hart Lane, a stadium that has been home to the club since over a century.
With the title won by Chelsea and United all but out of the top 4, it was a match with no real purpose and hence both teams were permitted to play the way they wanted with no major consequences.
The home side came out winners, fittingly of course, and here are the player ratings from the match:
Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris – 7
Not much for the Frenchman to work on and was helpless in the goal he conceded.
Kieran Trippier – 6
The player was highly active during attacks on the right flank and had a good defensive performance. Was beaten by Martial that led to the goal, but overall had a decent game.
Toby Alderweireld – 7
Was as usual strong and solid in defence and dealt with whatever little attacks the opposition had to offer.
Jan Vertonghen – 7
Partnered his fellow centre back brilliantly and kept The Red Devils away from Lloris for majority of the game.
Had a brilliant match throughout defensively and also provided a gem of a ball which was then converted into the first goal.
V. Wanyama – 8
Scored a bullet of a header in the early stages to provide his side the lead to send the fans into ear deafening cheers.
Eric Dier – 7
Produced a well balanced display of attack and defense from the centre of the park.
C. Eriksen – 9
A man of the match performance from one of Spurs’ primary players. Brilliant passing, glimpses of super skills and a beautiful free kick resulting in the second goal was the reason he received the applause of the night when he was substituted in the final minutes.
Dele Alli – 7
A young superstar and next big thing on the block showing yet again why he’s so highly rated in this quality league.
Son Heung-min – 7
The forward was quick on his feet and tried hard to score a goal but impressed with his performance.
The scorer of the last ever Tottenham goal at White Hart Lane, Kane put in yet another stellar striker performance and took one more step in a possible golden boot winning season.
Manchester United

De Gea – 6
Made a few saves to keep the score line to a minimum but was not as his best as he looked like the rest of his squad, unprepared and not up for it.
Axel Tuanzebe – 6
A good shift put in by the youngster and showed signs of solidity and strength, proving good signs for the club’s future.
Eric Bailly – 5
Probably one of his least impressive performances so far, playing out of position and constantly on the back foot against countless attacks.
Chris Smalling – 6
His return from injury wasn’t a successful one and seemed completely out of sorts and far from his best throughout the match.
Phil Jones – 5
Could not match up to the pace shown by Kane and Son and was caught off guard a few times.
Daley Blind – 3
Probably the worst player on the pitch today. Losing balls, poor tackles and no physicality. His performance was the highlight of what The Red Devils had to offer today.
Michael Carrick – 5
Slowed down the midfield way too much and was not up to it when defending against swift Tottenham attacks was the task.
Juan Mata – 6
The Spaniard failed to be the player he was before his injury and every bit of his game play, i.e creativity, skill and vision, were all lacking.
Jesse Lingard – 5
No threat at all in attacks and not prepared to battle it out against the big boys in the opposition today.
Wayne Rooney – 3
Another woeful display by the captain, which was somewhat saved by his goal in the second half. As a result, he is now the last ever goal scorer at White Hart Lane.
Anthony Martial – 8

The only player with some running about him today was the young Frenchman. Being given his rare chance to impress, the lad made constant efforts to create something out of nothing in United attacks and was successful in bagging one assist as his pacy run led to the home side conceding.
