Van Persie 2.0? Giggs Urges Man United To Go All Out For Alexis Sanchez

Manchester United legend and current football pundit Ryan Giggs has urged the Old Trafford hierarchy to sign Arsenal’s wantaway talisman Alexis Sanchez.
The former Barcelona man seems to be considering parting ways with the Gunners, as reports claim the Chile international is frustrated with his team’s lack of winning mentality and desire to compete for major silverware.
Amid speculation surrounding his insecure future in North London, the 28-year-old has been linked with some of the biggest clubs on the continent, and a move in the upcoming summer transfer window is extremely likely, given the fact that the forward has only a year left on his Arsenal contract.
As Arsene Wenger continues to try and maintain hold of his star players, former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has urged Jose Mourinho to take advantage of this situation, and lure Alexis Sanchez to the Theatre of Dreams.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, the Welshman claimed (via Sky Sports): “He’s a brilliant player. His work rate, the effect he has on his teammates, a winner.
“Jose Mourinho bought Zlatan Ibrahimovic because he is a winner. He’d won everywhere he’d gone. Not only the effect on the pitch but off the pitch as well. You can just feel that Sanchez would give his teammates a lift.
“When we bought Van Persie, you’re buying a ready-made superstar and everyone was like ‘Van Persie scores 25 goals a season. What a brilliant buy’. And it gives not only the fans a lift, but the players.”
However, Arsene Wenger has already claimed in the past that he won’t make the mistake of selling Sanchez to a Premier League rival, as he did when he sold Robin van Persie to Manchester United in the summer of 2012.
The French tactician had stated in April (via Goal): “I don’t think that you would sell him to any Premier League club, that is for sure. The question is more, why would you sell him to another [Premier League] club? You want to be as strong as you can be, and not strengthen the other teams.
“I let Van Persie go in the last year of his contract because Van Persie was 29, going on 30 and he was signing a long-term contract. That is not the case with Alexis. I personally think he will sign and stay here.”
