James Rodriguez Is NOT Manchester United’s Top Target

Despite having the opportunity to have a player like James Rodriguez play for them, Manchester United do not consider him to be their top transfer target.

According to ESPN FC, the player might not join the English club despite strong rumors in the media suggesting otherwise.

The player is almost sure to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, as Zinedine Zidane believes that the Colombian international didn’t show enough to warrant a first team spot. In an interview earlier on Tuesday, the manager declined to talk about the player’s future at the club.

Right after the 2014 Football World Cup, he was considered among the biggest talents in world football, and was immediately bagged by Real Madrid for £63 million from Monaco in August 2014.

However, with the same player now available in the region of £50 million, Jose Mourinho and Manchester United believe they can get a better deal.

While the 25-year-old playmaker had been linked with United since 2015, he would have been a perfect fit for Louis van Gaal’s side. But now, the club doesn’t really see a playing spot open for him, with the likes of Herrera, Mata, and Pogba playing in the middle, all with enough talent.

United have clearly indicated their interest towards Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, with him being their first choice to add to their new team. The team’s woes in the final third remain, especially now, with the absence of their talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Apart from the Frenchman, United have also indicated interest in Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Torino’s Andrea Belotti. Their interest in the Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, though, fell flat when the player put down any interest to join.

A major turning point in United’s attempts to bring in the big guns remains hanging until 24th May, when they play Ajax at Stockholm in the Europa League finals. If they do win, the Champions League spot along with the monetary rewards might boost United’s chances in completing their transfer goals.
