Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente — who is on loan at Alaves — has all but confirmed that Theo Hernandez is set to join Real Madrid.

Hernandez is currently on loan at Alaves from Atletico Madrid, and has largely impressed in the 35 appearances he has made this season, due to which he is being linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.

Marco Llorente has also played alongside the Atletico Madrid youth product at Alaves, and his eye-catching displays in the 32 appearances are almost to guarantee him a place back in the Real Madrid senior team.

In fact, Llorent recently commented on Hernandez’ reported move to Los Blancos, by claiming (via Managingmadrid.com): “I am sure that he will be very happy in Real Madrid and that he will succeed there.”

Real will have to meet the left-back’s €24 million release clause, so that they have a genuine backup option for Marcelo. The Brazilian is first-choice for the position at present, but Hernandez’s move would allow him to rest for a few matches.

Hernandez is still 19 years old, meaning Real would be signing him as a long-term option.

Meanwhile, Llorente’s return to the Spanish capital is sure to make a few players at Real uncomfortable, most notably James Rodriguez. The Colombian has struggled for game time under Zinedine Zidane this season, and the youngster’s return would only mean more competition for the midfield spots at the Bernabeu.
