Real Madrid To Fund A Move For Ajax Starlet Via James Rodriguez’s Sale
With James Rodriguez almost certain to leave Real Madrid this summer, Los Blancos seem to have already found a sound investment for their money, in the form of Davinson Sanchez.
The 20-year-old, who has already amazed the Amsterdam Arena with strong performances at the back of the defense, has attracted the eyes of the big boys from Europe.
According to reports, many European giants, including Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Barcelona, are in pursuit of the center-back.
Spanish media outlet Don Balon, believes the real motive for the move lies elsewhere – Perez wants to swoop for the player from right under Barcelona’s nose. The Catalans have been tracking the youngster for over a year now, and this move could be sneaky and nasty from Real Madrid.
By signing such a talent, Real Madrid fans hope he would partner well with Sergio Ramos, and rival Raphael Varane for a first-team spot.
With Real Madrid asking for close to £25 million for James Rodriguez, and the price only going up considering the rumors surrounding him, an investment of £21 million on Davinson Sanchez would be a smart move.
A Colombian himself, Sanchez racked up around 50 games for his club Atletico Nacional back home, at a very tender age of 19, by the year 2016. Despite Barcelona showing interest in him, he opted for Ajax over the Catalan side, as they guaranteed more playing time.
Despite a shaky start, the defender, who cost €5 million to Ajax, started paying dividends. He was a part of the defensive line which saw Ajax go on a 20-game unbeaten streak, as well as qualify for the Europa League group stages with 2 draws and 4 wins. His contribution in disposing off Legia Warsaw, FC Copenhagen and Schalke 04 are indicators of his quality.
The player is well versed in the “Total Football” concept practiced oh-so-well at Ajax. The formation and tactics involve intricate movements, completely outplaying the opposition by covering any empty spots and ensuring that player on the ball always has options.
Davinson Sanchez specializes in defensive movements. He also is a tall lad with strong aerial ability, helping with set pieces.
With Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Barcelona all willing to fight for the player, it’d be interesting to see if Real Madrid do manage to bring the player to Santiago Bernabeu.
