Manchester United Youngster Josh Harrop Set To Sign A New Contract

Manchester United’s newest forward Josh Harrop is expected to sign a new contract with the club, according to M.E.N. Sport.
The player was amongst the promoted youths from the ranks of United academy to score a goal on his debut against Crystal Palace in the last Premier League game of the 2016-17 season. And now, it is already being indicated that the player had agreed to sign a new contract before being given a first-team start for the club.
Harrop has constantly produced solid performances in the United’s reserve squad, having scored a hat-trick in the game before his Premier League debut. In spite of his amazing performances, it seemed unlikely that the player would break the ranks of the first-team squad anytime soon.
With the likes of Rashford, Martial, and Ibrahimovic in the squad, Harrop was sure to face a tough time fighting for a first-team spot, but he has certainly shown that he is up for the task.

The youngster’s contract runs out at the end of this season, but he might add another year if he signs the new contract offered to him by the club.
He would also be fighting for a chance against the talented Andreas Pereira, who returns from a loan spell with the relegated La Liga club Granada. Apart from the youth talent already present, United are very strongly linked to Frenchman Antoine Griezmann as well, whose move would certainly change the equation.
Harrop was evidently jubilant following his goalscoring debut against the Eagles, and he stated: “All my family were here, my friends and I am delighted they could share the moment with me. I have trained since I was eight for this moment and for it to come true today in front of everyone – I am over the moon and I am speechless.
“As I walked through the tunnel I was getting goosebumps on the back of my neck. I was like ‘I am actually doing this!’ I said to myself, ‘I want to get on the ball early and get as many touches as I can.’ That’s what I did and it helped me progress in the game. After I scored my legs drained. I don’t know what happened!”
Louis van Gaal had put the player on training with the first team back in 2015, but he failed to break into the first-team back then.
With the amount of talent visible from the game against Crystal Palace, it can safely be assumed that Nicky Butt, United’s Class of 92′ legend, has done an excellent job with the youth squad. Manchester United may surely want to look into their own ranks for worldly talents before they seek to buy from around the world.
