Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are reportedly desperate for Alvaro Morata, and are happy to reduce David de Gea’s price in exchange.

The Red Devils are set to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney at the end of the season, and are in desperate need of a star striker who can play week in week out at Old Trafford.

The likes of Antoine Griezmann and Andrea Belotti are already being looked at, but according to Spanish news outfit Marca, Manchester United are now desperate to land versatile Spanish attacker Alvaro Morata this summer.

The former Juventus man has not been able to cement a place under Zinedine Zidane at Real this season, and is up for sale this summer. In fact, Italian giants AC Milan are already closing in on his signature, but it is now understood that Jose Mourinho has stalled the deal, hoping to land Morata himself.

Real Madrid are not ready to let him leave on the cheap and are demanding in excess of £70m for his services, and though Milan are ready to do so, Manchester United have now come up with an offer of their own.

Mourinho is ready to let David de Gea leave for Real Madrid, and though the quoted price was north of £60m, Mourinho is ready to let him go for a lower price in exchange of Morata. It is understood that Mourinho is ready to offload the keeper at just £25m if he is able to land Morata in the same transfer window.

Valued at £70m, Morata is not a regular investment, and with United also looking to sign Antoine Griezmann for Atletico Madrid, a swap deal for De Gea for Morata is the best Mourinho can hope for.
