Antonio Conte Expresses Desire To Stay At Chelsea For Many Years

In the pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup final against Arsenal, Antonio Conte has put an end to the speculation that he is tempted to leave Chelsea. He insisted that he would love to stay at the club for many more years to come, but also added that it is very difficult to do so in modern football.
The Italian arrived in England in the summer of 2016, and after facing some early challenges, he guided Chelsea to the Premier League title.
Looking at his exploits in his first season as a Chelsea boss, Conte becomes the subject of sustained interest from Inter Milan, and a recent report in Tuttosport claimed that the 47-year-old has been offered a contract worth £10 million by the Serie A club.
Another report in Italy suggested that Conte feels homesick in London, and is considering leaving Stamford Bridge after just one season.
With the speculation about his future in full swing, Conte has ended up dismissing it all, by claiming that he hopes to remain in charge of the club for a long time.
“The best solution for a coach is to stay at a club for a long time and build something important,” he told the reporters. “I have two years [on my] contract with the club. Then if they give me the possibility to stay, I’m available to do this.
“The club and I have the same idea for the future; to improve the squad and the team. We have to finish this season but we’ve started to work for next season.”
Former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli has already urged Conte to spend the next 25 years at Stamford Bridge and emulate Premier League’s most decorated manager of all time: Sir Alex Ferguson.
And while the Italian admitted he would be interested in the same, he also added that it is very difficult to so in a modern football.
“It would be great to do this but in modern football, it’s very difficult to stay for a long time at the same club. Modern football is very dangerous and our job depends on results. The only way I know to try and convince the club that I can stay for a long time is to work very hard with my players but for sure it’s my hope,” he concluded.
