Antoine Griezmann All But Confirms His Future
Antoine Griezmann appears to have put an end to speculation surrounding his future at Atletico Madrid with a post on his twitter page.
Griezmann has been continuously linked with a switch to Manchester United this summer, and has not shied away from reporters asking him questions on the subject.
He recently admitted that there was a “six out of ten” chance of him making a switch to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer, while there was a “seven out of ten” chance of him staying at Atletico for the upcoming season.
Those admissions came in an interview before the Europa League final. And with United going on to win the competition, beating Ajax 2-0 in the final, and hence, securing their place in the Champions League next season, it surely upped the odds in their favour in terms of landing Griezmann.
However, Atletico Madrid have just found out that they will be banned from signing any players for the upcoming season, after breaching rules related to signing young players below the age of 18. Los Rojiblancos made an appeal to the court of arbitration for sport against the transfer ban, but saw their appeal turned down.
As a result, they will now be forced to do whatever is in their power to hold on to their star players – especially Griezmann. It does not appear that the striker will need to be convinced much, however.
The France international seems to have pledged his future to Atletico following the news that their appeal against the transfer ban was rejected, and he posted a picture on his twitter page with a caption that read “Ahora más que nunca #Atleti #Todosjuntos” which translates to “Now more than ever #Atleti #Todosjuntos”.
