Real Madrid Will Have To Cough Up More Than £80m For David De Gea

The David de Gea saga between Manchester United and Real Madrid has taken a new turn – the Red Devils want at least £80 million to part ways with their star goalkeeper.
The Europa League champions are expecting a bid in the region of £40 million from the Champions League winners, but according to the English media outlet, Daily Mail, United are not willing to let the Spaniard go at that value.
With the 26-year-old tied to a long-term contract, the Premier League giants can easily raise their asking value for incoming bids. Similarly, De Gea would not have much weight in his call for the bidding value. As of yet, the ex- Atletico Madrid keeper has not asked for a move, and the Old Trafford outfit would hope it stays that way.
Jose Mourinho, being the pragmatic manager, is willing to let the player go only if the bid value is up to his liking and he is able to find a suitable replacement for the world-class keeper.

Real Madrid are hoping to find a pivot in the players United are interested in – Raphael Varane and Alvaro Morata, amongst others. James Rodriguez has also been talked about in the negotiations of the possible deal between the clubs.
While De Gea almost completed a move to Santiago Bernabeu two years ago, the deal collapsed due to unforeseen circumstances, in which either side was seen blaming the other. Despite the Spaniard’s interest to play for Los Blancos, David isn’t pushing for a move himself.
Despite a very heavy season for the Red Devils, the Spanish international managed to retain 16 clean sheets – only Hugo Lloris, and the Golden Glove winner, Thibaut Courtois, outperformed him in the league.
Real Madrid are expecting to see a long and drawn out process leading to the deal, and if the move doesn’t materialise, they would mostly be changing their focus to Chelsea goalkeeper and ex-Atletico Madrid loanee, Thibaut Courtois.
On the other hand, if David de Gea does move to Spain, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira might retain their spot in the United lineup. Sam Johnstone, meanwhile, may move on to interested suitors, such as Leicester City, Sunderland, or Aston Villa.
