Transfer Hint? Man United Remove Wayne Rooney From Their Social Media Cover
Manchester United’s recent social media activity has further fuelled speculation linking club captain Wayne Rooney with a summer exit.
Rooney has struggled for game time ever since Jose Mourinho took charge at the Old Trafford outfit in the summer of 2016, as the Englishman fell down the pecking order and eventually lost his guaranteed spot in the Manchester United starting lineup.
The veteran forward only managed to make 39 appearances in the Red Devils’ toiling 2016-17 campaign, out of which he only started 25 games, and scored a total of 8 goals in all competitions.
With the 31-year-old evidently on the decline, he has been linked with a move away from the Theatre of Dreams, as he remains on the lookout for more first-team opportunities to play regular football.
The England international has been linked with big money moves to the MLS as well as the Chinese Super League, with a return to his boyhood club Everton also on the cards.
And now, Manchester United’s official facebook handle has added more fuel to the speculation surrounding Rooney’s potential summer departure, after removing their decorated servant from the page’s timeline cover.
The previous cover featured the likes of Rooney along with Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, and Ander Herrera, but the latest picture only consists of the latter three – with the team captain excluded.

Given the fact that Wayne Rooney remains one of the most famous and marketable players in world football, his exclusion from the cover does raise a lot of eyebrows, and it very likely means that Manchester United’s golden boy is set to head out the exit door this summer.
