Antonio Conte To Leave Chelsea If His Demands Aren’t Met

Antonio Conte is considering quitting Chelsea, as he and the Blues’ hierarchy are at odds over the club’s plan of action for the upcoming season, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian manager successfully led the club to a Premier League title in his first season, despite the media being rife being rumours that suggested he might leave the Chelsea at the end of the campaign.
The same speculation has only increased since Thursday night, after Conte was reported to be unhappy with the club’s recruitment policy. Chelsea’s English rivals have already been active in the transfer market, and have confirmed one or two signings, but the Blues are yet to negotiate a successful transfer deal.
With Diego Costa set to leave and Eden Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge uncertain, Conte has demanded a substantial transfer market investment in all areas of the pitch, to attain success in both domestic and European competitions next season.
In addition to that, he also wants full control over Chelsea’s academy, and power to appoint assistant coaches.
However, the Chelsea board is reluctant to listen to Conte’s request, and in fact, there are suggestions that the club chiefs are keen to keep Diego Costa this summer, despite the former Juventus manager making it clear that the Spanish international is no longer a part of his plans.
The 47-year-old’s decision to sell one of the star players has made the board really angry, and they are reportedly interested in hiring former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel if Conte decides to leave the Stamford Bridge outfit.
This is not the first time that the inspirational manager has decided to walk away from a job after winning the league title. In fact, he resigned as Juventus manager in the summer of 2014 after the club declined to recruit the players that Conte considered essential for a successful Champions League campaign.
Chelsea fans can now only hope that the friction between the manager and the board will be resolved before the pre-season begins.
