Chelsea Looking To Hijack Morata’s Move To Premier League Rivals
Just when Alvaro Morata’s transfer to Manchester United looked imminent, Chelsea have emerged as potential party poopers.
The Blues are planning to hijack Manchester United’s move for the Real Madrid striker, according to the Daily Mirror.
Conte is eager to bring Morata to Stamford Bridge after ruling Diego Costa out of his plans for next season. The Italian coach informed Costa that the Spanish striker wouldn’t make his team anymore, and he should look for a move away.
Conte and Morata have worked together at Juventus, and the Italian clearly feels that the Spaniard is the man to spearhead his attack next season. Having agreed personal terms with Manchester United, Morata is also said to be preferring a move to the Premier League winners now.
Meanwhile, Diego Costa is seeking to join his former team Atletico Madrid after getting kicked out of Chelsea. The Blues paid £32m to sign the striker from the Madrid-based club in 2014, but Atletico are now ready to sign their former player on a cut price deal, where they are willing to pay up to £26m.
However, even if a deal is agreed, the 28-year-old won’t be able to join Los Rojiblancos before January because of an ongoing transfer ban on Atletico.
Alvaro Morata, on the other hand, has requested to leave Bernabeu due to his limited playing time last season. The 24-year-old is expected to feature in the Premier League next season, yet it remains to be seen which club he will opt for.
