Di Marzio: Juventus Want Matteo Darmian To Replace Dani Alves
Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian has emerged as a target for Juventus, as they consider the Italian to be a potential replacement for Dani Alves.
Darmian joined United from Torino for a reported £12.5m in January 2015, and since then, the 27-year-old has made 68 appearances in two seasons at Old Trafford.
Despite the injury troubles, the Italian had a solid first season at Old Trafford, but the arrival of Jose Mourinho in the following season limited the player’s game time initially, as the Portuguese tactician preferred Antonio Valencia over Darmian.
After falling out of favour in the first half of the season, Darmian showed promise, and was one of Mourinho’s most dependable players at left-back in the final part of the campaign, even producing a splendid performance in the Europa League final against Ajax in Stockholm.

Meanwhile, Brazilian star Dani Alves has been tipped to leave Juventus after an impressive first season in Turin. Recent reports, however, state that the former Barcelona man has been linked with a move to Manchester City this summer.
Therefore, Juve have already begun looking for his replacement, and Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that they have set their sights on Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian.
The report adds that the Italian full-back is valued around £20m, and the Serie A giants have already contacted Darmian’s representatives, but the final decision rests with Mourinho.
Looking at the United squad and the reinforcements that the Portuguese is going to bring in for the full-back positions this summer, it is unlikely that Darmian will get consistent playing time next season.
On the other hand, Juventus would guarantee the former Torino man more game time, and regular football would be vital for the defender to secure a place in Italy’s World Cup squad next year.
