After Marco Verratti revealed his shocking decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain, the midfielder has now claimed that he is willing to stay back if the club brings in quality players in this summer’s transfer market.

The midfielder’s agent, Donato Di Campli, had recently revealed that the player is not entirely clear of his future at PSG. Several clubs, including , Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus have been interested in the Italian, and have now been given a positive feedback for a new bid for his services.

The 24-year-old, speaking to Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sportexplained his indecision, by stating: “It’s not that I want to go at all costs, it’s just I want to see if they really do build a great squad this time. In that case, I would be happy to stay.

“Each year they say they are going to build a great squad, but we’ve seen the results. Promises are not enough. If on the other hand, this time PSG with [sporting director Antero] Henrique stick to what they say, then I will be absolutely happy to stay. At the end of the day, nobody is forcing me to leave.”

Flying in early from Ibiza this week, it is reported that the Italy international rejected a contract valued close to €12 million per season before meeting Henrique at Paris, according to Sport Mediaset (via ESPN).

Marco is considered to be among the best prospects in his midfield position in the world right now, his passing and dribbling skills are top-notch, while an eye for vision is what pushes him closer to the direction of a complete midfielder.

Parc des Princes would love to retain a player of his quality, but he has a valid point too, considering PSG haven’t been able to make a mark on the European stage. They have been knocked out by Barcelona thrice, and failed to win the Ligue 1 last season, slowly falling out of pace where they were known for ruthlessness.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly a huge transfer budget of close to €220 million planned for the summer, and are eyeing players like Mbappe, Donnarumma and Dortmund’s Raphael Guerrero.
