Jose Mourinho Frustrated With Lack Of Summer Signings

Jose Mourinho is reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated with a lack of transfer activity at the club, as they are set to leave for the United states for their summer tour of the United States on July 9.

According to The Guardian, Mourinho is miffed with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward with the pace that the transfer targets are going forward.

Jose is said to be angered with the sole addition of Victor Lindelof to his squad in the transfer window, with the Manchester United manager concerned no more major signings will be in place when the pre-season tour starts. The manager is desperate to add key players ahead of the tour, so he gets more time to get his squad gelling and also getting a view of how his team could line-up.

Yahoo Sport UK also stated that the Portuguese tactician was surprised to see Ed Woodward attend the British and Irish Lions first test against the All Blacks during a critical period for negotiating deals.

After the club won the Europa League final against Dutch giants Ajax in late May, Mourinho publicly stated it was down to Ed Woodward to ensure his targets were secured as soon as possible. He had also added that a list of players was handed to the former, and it is up to the club to go and get them.

Yet, six weeks later, Mourinho has seen deals for Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata stall. A personal deal with Morata is said to be agreed, but the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee, as Real is demanding a whopping £70m for the former Juventus man, with United not willing to pay the same.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese also remains hopeful with the transfer of midfielder Matic to be secured before Sunday. The Serbian is reportedly set to reunite with Mourinho after having played under him at Chelsea. The English champions have set a £40m price-tag for the former Benfica star, and United are currently discussing terms to get him to Manchester.

There is also an interest in Monaco midfielder Fabinho, but United want a positive response from Chelsea for Matic first. There is an acknowledgement that the Blues’ desire to land Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko before allowing Matic to leave is the reason behind the delay.

However, it is understood that Mourinho will be dismayed with Woodward if deals for either of Morata and Matic don’t go through as expected.
