African Cup Of Nations To Be Held In June/July From 2019

Following serious debates, Confederation of African Football has given the green light to proposal of organizing their biennial African Cup of nations during the summer break.
The decision has been openly welcomed by fans and clubs around the world, as the tournament prevented numerous African players from competing with their clubs in January and February.
Earlier, clubs from around the world, and especially the Premier League, were made to let go of their important African players for almost 2 months. Many clubs had voiced their discomfort in allowing African players to leave them at a crucial stage of the season.
Notably, players from 12 different Premier League teams were involved in this year’s African Cup of nations. Sadio Mane of Liverpool, Mohamed Elneny of Arsenal, and United’s Eric Bailly were among some high profile players missed by their respective clubs during January and February.
Evidently, Premier League is home to a number of African players, and the arrival of Mohamed Salah of Egypt at Liverpool has only added to the already big list of players coming from the continent.
