Manchester City are reportedly planning to raid AS Monaco to try and lure teen sensation Kylian Mbappe to the Etihad, according to Goal.

The news comes after it was reported that PSG were making a huge effort to sign Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez. Man City’s administration believes that this leaves less competition to sign the French youngster, and they see this as the perfect opportunity to seal the deal.

When the summer transfer window opened for the first time this year, City were believed to be interested in acquiring the services of both Sanchez and Mbappe.

However, a move for either player hasn’t occur yet, and now that they have already spent more than £200m, it would be very difficult to land both of them. Moreover, Pep Guardiola’s side will probably be trumped by the money PSG are offering for Sanchez.

With the Chilean all but set to join the Parisian side, Guardiola would want to bring the Monaco starlet to his side. The Spanish gaffer sees the immense potential in Mbappe, and understands that he can convert him into one of the finest players in Europe.

However, what might stand in the way is the Frenchman’s staggering release clause. They have reportedly slapped a massive €190m price tag on their superstar, so as to declare that the starlet is not up for the grabs.

Meanwhile, City’s summer didn’t go the way they would’ve liked, as the sales of Joe Hart and Alexander Kolarov didn’t reap the money that the Sky Blues would’ve expected.

While Guardiola would be the perfect manager to nurture Mbappe, the chances of this transfer going through seem pretty slim. Monaco are not ready to listen to offers, and would not sell below €190m, thereby making things extremely difficult, even for a club with City’s finances, to splash that sort of cash on a young 18-year-old.
