Antonio Conte is all set to once again lock horns with Jose Mourinho, as Chelsea look to sign right-back Serge Aurier from PSG.

The development seems identical to the manner in which Manchester United pried away Romelu Lukaku, whom the reigning English champions looked to sign in July.

According to French outlet Le10 Sport, Chelsea have submitted a £27 million bid ahead of the Red Devils to land the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international. United were earlier understood to have secured the deal.

Aurier has emerged for sale following the French club’s world record swoop of Neymar Jr for an astounding fee of €222 million, as the club now looks to clear the huge wage bill at hand by offloading a few players.

Furthermore, the capture of Dani Alves has all but assured the player’s departure from Parc des Princes.

The Red Devils have had the young player on their radar for quite a while now. Moreover, reports in Italy suggest that AC Milan have also expressed an interest in acquiring the right-back, this is quickly transforming into a three-way saga.

It is interesting to note that the right-back is currently banned from entering the United Kingdom as a result of a brawl with a policeman in Paris earlier this year. It remains to be seen how this will affect the potential switch, as it might just tip the scales in favour of the Italian club.

Chelsea will benefit immensely from his signature, as it shall add variety to the Blues’ wing play as well as provide an alternative for Victor Moses.

Mourinho, on the other hand, will be fuming, as the Red Devils desperately needed stability amongst their full-backs, as Antonio Valencia was their sole reliable man last year. Injuries to the likes of Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, and Luke Shaw also add to the importance of Aurier arriving at Old Trafford.
