Premier League outfit Watford have confirmed the signing of Richarlison from Brazilian top division side Fluminense.

The 20-year-old joins the Hornets on a 5-year deal, for a transfer fee believed to be in the range of £11 million. The forward has been granted a work permit.

The youngster arrives in England on the back of a successful spell in his homeland, wherein he netted 19 goals in 67 appearances for Fluminense, and scored twice in 8 games for Brazil U20.

He was reportedly being monitored by AC Milan, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Watford released an official statement on their website, which read: “Brazilian attacker Richarlison has signed for Watford on a five-year deal, the Hornets are delighted to confirm.

“The Hornets have beaten off strong competition to secure the services of the highly-rated 20-year-old, following a successful work permit application.”

The player has been rated very highly in Brazil, with his former Fluminense coach Abel Braga describing him as “a complete player… who, if he keeps his feet on the ground, has everything it takes to be one of Fluminense’s greats.”

The Brazilian could very well feature in Watford’s first Premier League game of the season, which will be played at home against Liverpool on Saturday, in a 12:30 BST kick-off.
