Manchester United had Isco scouted at the age of 21, but the scouting report didn’t encourage the English club to make a bid.
Legendary ex-Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had Isco thoroughly scouted at Malaga during his final year of a remarkable tenure. A senior scout was assigned to watch the Spanish playmaker a number of times, who wasn’t massively impressed by the player.
As a result, the scout report did not excite Manchester United hierarchy enough to make a bid for the player, who ran the show against them in UEFA Super Cup recently.
As per ESPN, The submitted scout report read: “He’s good, but not quite quick enough and his head is too big for his body.”
The lukewarm feedback suggested that Isco was not good enough to make it into the Manchester United squad – a massively wrong notion today. The elegant midfielder is shining on the biggest of stages for the Champions of Europe, i.e. Real Madrid.
Isco was the standout player for Los Blancos in their Super Cup win against Manchester United, as the playmaker put on a show for spectators. The 25-year-old danced across the pitch, showcasing his exemplary dribbling skills, and he also scored a great goal that turned out to be the eventual winner.
After the defeat, United boss Jose Mourinho reserved special words for the Real Madrid midfielders, including Isco, by stating: “The midfield players of Real Madrid there are only one, there are no replicas. No replicas of Modric, Toni Kroos, Isco, no replicas of Casemiro, so they are really solid and the way they move the ball makes it difficult.”
