Gary Neville wants his former club to sign a world-class winger, as he believes that will complete Jose Mourinho’s squad for the 2017-18 season.

United won three trophies under Jose Mourinho last season, and the club will hope to continue adding more honours in the Portuguese’s 2nd year.

Neville has gone on to say that the Mancunian club needs a wide player with proven mentality in order to make the most out of the ongoing season in order to compete for silverware, including the Premier League title.

United played Marcus Rashford on the left-wing position in their 4-0 PL opener win against West Ham at Old Trafford, but despite the youngster’s impressive show, Neville believes a world class winger will add more finesse to make the squad look complete.

“Is Rashford a wide player – not really? That is where United could get one world class winger and it would be a complete squad,” said the decorated right-back.

United will be relying on Rashford’s pace and the versatility of Anthony Martial to provide service from the left wing, as both players showed character against the Hammers.

Although Mourinho is happy with the squad, he hasn’t hid his intentions of chasing an experienced winger, as he saw multiple bids for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic get rejected. There was an interest in Gareth Bale as well, but the Welshman is wanted at Real Madrid.

The Old Trafford boss had recently claimed that 75% of business has been done by United, and a notable winger could be final piece of the jigsaw. United have been strengthened by additions of centre-forward Romelu Lukaku and midfielder Nemanja Matic besides Victor Lindelof in defence, but the manager seeks an out-and-out winger to attack through the wings and provide the impetus.

United are keeping themselves from coughing money on a whopping valuation on Perisic set by Inter, and in addition, the Italians’ demand for Martial stalled the deal.

Both Martial and Rashford aren’t complete wingers, but are forced to play in that position to support Lukaku. But their adaptability is laudable, and Jose believes he can derive the maximum from the duo, as his side is vying for the Premier League title after finishing a disappointing sixth last term.
