Fabinho Insists On Move Away From Monaco
Fabinho is still determined to seal a move away from AS Monaco this summer, and claims that his current club is aware of his desire to leave.
The Brazilian defender-cum-midfielder has attracted interest from several of the biggest clubs in Europe, and has been set to leave France this summer. However, with Monaco already having lost the likes of Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy to Manchester City, Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea, and with Arsenal and Real Madrid circling over Mbappe, the defending Ligue 1 champions have held firm on their stance regarding Fabinho’s future.
They are not willing to let another one of their important players slip through their fingers, even if he does want out. Jose Mourinho is said to have been keeping a close watch on developments at the Stade Louis II, and has been one of the favourites to land Fabinho this summer.
The versatile full-back has been seen as an option to solve Manchester United’s left-back crisis, and could be just the player Mourinho is looking for.
In a recent interview, Fabinho said of his future: “I feel good, there is nothing to say about my situation, the club knows my will. I hope we will continue this way and that Monaco will still be okay.”
The French club’s vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev, also revealed that Monaco have no intention to let go of Thomas Lemar or Fabinho this summer, by stating: “We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep.
“Fabinho is a must-have player in midfield who was being courted by all the major clubs. I will also address speculation about Lemar: he is staying with us. We have discussed this. Both these players have tremendous talent and are essential for our team. We must not await further departures, rather arrivals.”
