Ever since Nemanja Matic left Chelsea, the Blues have been seeking a replacement. Conte believes that his squad is one midfielder short, and Drinkwater is the right man to fill that spot.
However, the Leicester City player will definitely be seen as backup to Fabregas, Kante, and Bakayoko in midfield.
Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to look for players to strengthen their squad during the final week of the transfer window. The Stamford Bridge giants are linked with yet another Foxes’ player in Jamie Vardy. Conte is supposedly looking to give his team even more competition upfront, with Diego Costa out of the equation.
Arsenal’s Oxlade Chamberlain is also linked with a switch to the reigning Premier League champions. The player has reportedly turned down a contract extension to force Arsene Wenger to sell him during the final days of transfer window. The English winger has just under a year to run out on his current contract with the Gunners.
