Revealed: Wayne Rooney’s Dream Career Move After Retirement

During his stint at Old Trafford, Wayne Rooney became the club’s all-time top scorer, leading the charts by netting a phenomenal 253 goals. For country too, the striker was no less brilliant, holding the top record by scoring 53 goals in 119 appearances. He is arguably the nation’s best player.
However, there may be a future where Rooney’s role for England will be from outside the pitch. In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, the 31-year old striker revealed his aspirations to get into a managerial position.
He went on to reveal: “I’d love to go into management. I’m doing my badges now and I think it would be a waste to have the knowledge I’ve picked up over the years to not have a go at it. I’ve always been interested in watching games, and the tactical side of games, and speaking to the managers I’ve worked under about how we’re going to approach certain games.”
Comparing himself with other players, the current Everton forward claimed: “I’ve always watched football and studied it to try to see different things during the game, and I know a lot of players I’ve played with don’t do that. They’re more into watching tricks on YouTube, and stuff like that.”
Last month, Rooney announced his departure from International football, bringing to end an illustrious stint. However, regarding the top post, he simply had this to say: “England manager – you never know. I wouldn’t say no!”
However, if he aspires to bag that job, he’ll have to keep an eye on his discipline. After netting 200 Premier League goals, the veteran striker appeared in the papers for the wrong reasons, having been found guilty of drunk driving. Due to his antics, he faces an enormous fine of £320,000, and what can only be a terribly awkward conversation with manager Ronald Koeman.
Despite all that, one simply can’t deny that the man has charm and talent that may work wonders from a coaching position. Whether or not such an event does occur will be answered by time alone. For now, when Everton return to action against Tottenham on September 9, supporters will be eager to see what other records the Englishman might break during his potential two-year stint.
