Ousmane Dembele Reveals Which Two Games Made Him Realise Messi Isn’t Human
After his Stunning arrival in Catalonia, Ousmane Dembele has went on to reveal how Lionel Messi sparked his love for Barcelona, and when he realised something special about him.
The former Dortmund starlet joined the Catalans for a club record fee of €150 million after a successful debut season, and is now tasked with the duty of filling the shoes of Neymar Jr., who left for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Though the La Liga outfit was heavily linked with Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, disagreements between the two clubs saw Barca make a last ditch move for the youngster from BVB instead.
As a Barca fan himself, the young Frenchman talked about the time his love for the club grew, and a very interesting trait about new teammate Messi. Dembele spoke of the Champions League semi-final, and how the performances of Andres Iniesta and Messi impressed him.
“I remember two games especially,” the talented midfielder told Sport. “One against Chelsea, when [Andres] Iniesta scored the goal to qualify for the Champions League final. When I see Andres now, I remember it. I can’t wait to tell him.
“And the other was a Champions League game against Arsenal. Barcelona had not done great in the first leg but in the second leg, they produced a brilliant performance, with four goals from Messi. That’s when I realised Messi’s not from this world. It was incredible.”
The 20-year-old has impressed in Germany, and is expected to do the same at the Nou Camp, and alongside the likes of Luis Suarez and Leo Messi, the Blaugrana could be on their way to give the Cules a new and exciting partnership.
