FIFA Reject Transfer Application Of Midfielder After English Club Miss Registration Deadline By 14 Seconds

Sporting Lisbon star Adrien Silva’s move to Premier League side Leicester City has reportedly reached a critical junction, after the Foxes missed the deadline to register him by 14 seconds, despite requesting a two-hour extension.
Leicester City agreed a £22 million deal with Primeira Liga side on deadline day (31st August) for the midfielder, and then requested a two-hour extension to complete the necessary paperwork. However, according to The Telegraph, Silva’s registration was not completed in time.
It was reported that the 2015-16 Premier League Champions did not complete the player’s registration with FIFA before the deadline, and as a result, football’s governing body has refused to accept the 28-year-old’s registration five days after the deal, and terms were agreed late on deadline-day.

The English club is said to have submitted an official appeal against the decision, but if the ruling is upheld, then Silva won’t be able to play for the Foxes until January. It was claimed that the player would also take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Leicester have also claimed that they are still attempting to resolve the problem, and are discussing the matter with Sporting and FIFA. A Leicester spokesman said: “We are working with Adrien and Sporting Clube de Portugal to overcome some issues relating to the player’s registration and exploring all options to find a resolution.”
Sporting’s President, Bruno de Carvalho, also believes that the business was done, as he said: “The transfer of Adrien is already completed. Hopefully Leicester find a solution for him.”
Leicester made a move for Silva after the club agreed to sell Danny Drinkwater to Chelsea for £35 million.
