Dani Alves Explains The Free-Kick Row Between Neymar And Cavani

A healthy relationship amongst teammates is instrumental to the success of any team. However, more often than not, ego clashes, fueled by pay gaps and disagreements on the pitch, tend to spoil the fond rapport shared between most players.
It appears that a similar standoff occurred between two of PSG’s star players during their match against Lyon on Sunday. While the Paris-based club did come out on top with a 2-0 win, courtesy of own goals from Marcelo and Jeremy Morel, Neymar and Cavani were seen getting involved in an awkward disagreement.
The duo was seen sparring over who should take a free kick during the game. They were interrupted by Dani Alves, who took the ball away in an attempt to take the spot-kick himself. Ultimately, the shot was taken by the younger Brazilian.
Now, as reported by Marca, Alves has tried to explain the situation, by revealing: “I took the ball because I wanted to take the free-kick, but then Neymar took it away.”

Neymar became the world’s most expensive player this summer, when PSG signed him for a world record fee of €222 million. He has had a flying start to his career in France so far, finding the net 5 times and assisting 5 other goals in his six appearances with the Qatar-backed club.
PSG have a hundred percent win record in the Ligue 1 so far, and if they wish to capture the title from reigning champions Monaco, they must swiftly put to an end such squabbles between such two highly rated players. With the outfit facing Montpellier on Sunday, it remains to be seen how the forward line will be shaped.
