Griezmann’s Tweets About Diego Costa’s Arrival Might Worry United Fans
Thursday saw one of the biggest dramas of the season come to a close, after Chelsea officially announced that they’ve agreed terms with Atletico Madrid over the transfer of Diego Costa. The striker was estranged from the club, and was eager for a move during the transfer window. And now, he has finally received his wish, subject to personal terms and a medical, which will reportedly occur within the week.
The news will be a welcome relief for Atletico Madrid fans who are currently witnessing their club serve a transfer ban imposed by FIFA, the lifting of which will make Costa their first signing. However, the player will only be eligible to play after January 1.
One person in the Spanish capital appears to be clearly overjoyed by the signing, and he chose to be not so subtle about it via Twitter. Atletico’s star forward and long-term Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann took to the microblogging site, posting a tweet which can only be interpreted as a welcome for the 28-year-old Brazilian.

The duo never had a chance to play together in the La Liga, as the Frenchman was only signed after Costa departed for Chelsea. At London, the latter gained great success, bagging two Premier League titles and maintaining a top goalscoring record for all of his three full seasons.
However, Manchester United fans may be unnerved by this tweet. The supporters of the Red Devils were all but convinced that the world-class winger would be signed in the summer transfer window, but were let down after the 26-year-old decided to stay with the side due to their aforementioned transfer ban.
After the arrival of the clinical striker, will Griezmann opt to stay at Madrid itself and link up with him upfront, thereby snubbing Manchester United, who are reportedly eager to make another attempt in the next transfer window? Or will he leave the club in Costa’s care? It remains to be seen.
