Four Premier League Giants Compete For Serie A’s Next Big Thing
Genoa’s teen sensation, Pietro Pellegri, has already taken his market share through the roof, and after his latest brace against Lazio, a host of Europe’s top clubs are reportedly in race for the 16-year-old’s signature.
Pellegri is believed to be wanted by top Serie A giants, including the likes of AC Milan and Juventus, and now, the striker is said to be on the radar of a host of Premier League powerhouses as well.
It was reported earlier that Manchester United and Chelsea have already made enquiries about Pellegri, and now, according to reports, Arsenal and Manchester City have also picked up pace in obtaining the wonderkid’s signature.
Furthermore, as per Calciomercato, despite of all the links with different clubs, Pellegri came closest to join Genoa’s Serie A rivals Inter Milan in the summer, after the San Siro outfit successfully reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with the player and I Rossoblu.
It was reported that the Nerazzurri had agreed to sign two of Genoa’s young stars, Pellegri and Salcedo Mora, 15, for a combined fee of €60m including bonuses and add-ons. However, the move was blocked by Inter owners, as they were adamant on selling some of their players before bringing in new signings.
Now, as it appears, the two Serie A sides are far from settling over a deal, and as reported earlier, AC Milan, who are said to be in touch with the player’s agent Beppe Raso, are currently the frontrunners for Pellegri’s signature.
Thus, if any of the Premier League’s elites wish to sign the 16-year-old, they will not only have to face a stiff competition from their English clubs, but from the Italian teams as well.
