Mourinho Confirms The Worst Possible Update On Paul Pogba Injury
Paul Pogba was seen limping off the pitch in the 19th minute of Manchester United’s UEFA Champions League opener against Basel. Since then, there has been much speculation over the time frame for which the top rated midfielder would be out of action due to what was later revealed as a hamstring injury.
Now, manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Pogba’s injury will be long-term, ruling out a return for the 24-year-old anytime soon, and shocking the supporters who were hoping for a swift return in the process.
Speaking about Pogba, the Portuguese stated: “I cannot have hope, like with Jones or Valencia who I can see in training and hope for a positive answer.”

Much hope was held by the fans that their key man wouldn’t be out for too long. However, many also believed the injury to be in the league with the ones being sustained by Zlatan Ibrahimović and Marcos Rojo, which have already given much woe to the Red Devils.
Mourinho confirmed the same, by adding: “Long-term injuries, I don’t speak about them – Ibra, Pogba, and Rojo.”
Pogba’s injury is an added blow to the club’s midfield, especially with Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick also set to be out for a short term due to recent injuries of their own, leaving a thin set of midfielders for Mourinho to select from.
In fact, the Portuguese boss might even have to look at youngster Scott McTominay as a potential option to ease the pressure on the current set of players in the middle of the park.
United face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday in an encounter they will be eager to win, so as to secure the top spot in the table, owing to what will be a tough match for equally injury-riddled rivals Man City, who have to face Chelsea.
It remains to be seen how long the Red Devils, who have had a great run so far, will be able to sustain a midfield without their prized Frenchman.
