Arsenal Star Confirms He Rejected Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal have been in no shortage of attacking threat ever since the introduction of Alexandre Lacazette. However, the striker could’ve ended up elsewhere, as he recently confirmed strong interest in his services from Paris Saint-Germain before he agreed to join the Londoners.
The French international joined the Gunners this summer for a reported fee of £50 million, becoming their new record signing – a title once held by Mesut Ozil.
The former Lyon man was one of the best number nines last season, netting a whopping 35 goals and bagging 4 assists across all competitions. Though Lacazette failed to shine as Ligue 1’s top scorer, since Edinson Cavani bested him by 2 goals, he has still managed to score the most league goals in France since 2013.
Arséne Wenger has undoubtedly snatched a lethal goalscorer, who has proved his price tag’s worth so far. However, the French manager could’ve easily lost the talented forward to PSG, who were keen on replacing Cavani this summer.
The Arsenal star revealed that the Parisians had held talks with him over a possible switch, promising the comfort of the French football that he is so familiar with. However, Lacazette turned down the offer and opted to sign for the North Londoners in order to play in a bigger league.
“We talked to PSG but I knew it was not where I wanted to go. In France, I would only play for Lyon,” said the forward, as per RMC Sport. “PSG could have helped me progress because of the big players they have but I wanted to play in another league.”
The stature the Premier League holds has yet again proved something to be reckoned with, as big names like Paul Pogba, Alvaro Morata and Lacazette himself, have been attracted to England so far.

On the other hand, though Wenger’s side had a rough start to the campaign through a 1-0 loss at the Bet356 Stadium and a 4-0 embarrassment against Liverpool, Lacazette has managed to reignite their attacking prowess, and has played a vital role in his side’s 7-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
“I believe in the title, whether in the Premier League or in the Europa League,” the 26-year-old added. “We have a big group, everyone gets along, it’s not always the best that wins.”
Arsenal currently hold the fifth spot in the Premier League table, and seem to be ready to make up for last season’s disappointing performances by finally offering a significant title challenge.
